Super Tucano fighter planes from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have attacked the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) hideouts, resulting in the deaths of 11 terrorists in Borno State's Lake Chad Tumbus axis.
On July 15, 2023, the terrorists were destroyed when reliable intelligence pointed to their existence in the Kollaram and Arinna/Chiki camps.
Mr. Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency specialist and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, said yesterday in Maiduguri that the fighter jets bombed the camps and killed roughly 11 militants in the area, including a leader.
He said that another terrorist cell was murdered in the Kirta-Wulgo axis of the state while they were trying to escape in boats.
The terrorists were destroyed by airstrikes, according to a military source in Maiduguri, when they attempted to cross the lake to reunite with their comrades in Tumbun Rego.
The informant mentioned that the terrorists would reassemble before launching an attack on a nearby military outpost.
